Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Climitra Carbon Private Limited, New Delhi, to strengthen collaborative research and technology development in the domains of sustainable carbon materials and clean energy systems.
The MoU focuses on jointly advancing biomass-based carbon materials, biochar, syngas, gasification-
based fuel systems, and waste-to-energy technologies, with particular relevance to metallurgical, thermal,
and industrial energy sectors.
Under this strategic partnership, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Climitra Carbon will work together on laboratory-
to-pilot scale research, technology development, and process optimisation, aimed at converting biomass
and waste resources into high-value carbon and energy products.
Key areas of collaboration will include biomass utilisation, biochar development, gasification pathways, and waste-to-energy conversion systems, supporting the creation of scalable and low-emission alternatives for industrial applications
The MoU also envisions joint technology development initiatives, techno-economic assessments, and
research publications, enabling the translation of scientific research into implementable solutions for industry and society.
This initiative reflects IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s continued commitment to building meaningful industry–
academia partnerships, while supporting national missions such as Aatmnirbhar Bharat, Make in India,
and Swachh Bharat through the promotion of indigenous clean technologies, sustainable industrial growth, energy security, and cleaner production systems.
