Dhanbad : The Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, in association with VIBHA, successfully organized the inaugural function of STEMVis: Shaping Visionary Leadership in STEM Education, a premier leadership program designed to empower school heads to champion future-ready STEM ecosystems. The event was held at the Ground Floor, TEXMiN, i2h Building, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
STEMVis is an initiative aimed at fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning in
schools by enabling principals and educators to integrate STEM, coding, research, and 21st-century
skills from early grades, in alignment with the vision of NEP 2020. A total of 66 school principals
from across Jharkhand, along with senior teachers, registered and participated in this initiative.
The inaugural session began with a welcome note and lamp lighting, followed by addresses from
academic leaders. Prof. Parthasarathi Das, Dean (R&D); Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director
& Vice-President, VIBHA; Prof. M. K. Singh, Dean (Academics); Prof. Keka Ojha, Dean,
Continuing Education Program; and Prof. S. K. Gupta, Dean (Students’ Welfare) addressed the
gathering.

Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad & President, VIBHA, addressed the
gathering in online mode as he was away, emphasizing the importance of STEM-based leadership
in shaping India’s educational ecosystem.
While some scheduled speakers could not attend, Dr. Jajati Kesari Nayak from the Variable
Energy Cyclotron Centre, Kolkata, delivered an insightful talk about VIBHA’s vision and
contributions.
The program featured plenary and keynote talks designed to inspire participants. Though Prof. Alok
Das, Prof. Sanjiv Sahu, and Shri Naresh could not attend, the sessions engaged participants in rich
discussions on integrating STEM, research, and innovation at the school level.
The event was coordinated by Prof. Madhulika Gupta, Department of Chemistry and Chemical
Biology, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, whose efforts ensured the successful execution of the program.
The inaugural function concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by group photographs, high tea,
and interactive sessions with participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, highlighted
that STEMVis would pave the way for transforming schools into hubs of creativity, innovation,
and problem-solving, equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.
