In a decisive push towards inclusive and future-ready education, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is implementing a Capacity Building & Training Program on Basic and Advanced IT & Computer Skills for tribal students in Jharkhand under the Centre of Excellence Scheme of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Spearheaded by Prof. Rashmi Singh (Operations & Analytics) and Prof. Niladri Das (Finance) from the Department of Management Studies and Industrial Engineering (DMSIE), the programme is designed as a structured, outcome-driven intervention to bridge the digital divide and enhance employability among tribal youth.
As part of its rigorous academic framework, a Mid-Semester Examination and Intensive Hands-on Practical Training Visit is being conducted on March 18–19, 2026 at EMRS Tamar, Ranchi and EMRS Kujra, Lohardaga for students of Classes X, XI, and XII. The exercise integrates evaluation with real-time application, ensuring that learning outcomes are both measurable and meaningful.
The programme adopts a multi-disciplinary pedagogical approach, seamlessly combining analytics and finance perspectives to build strong digital competencies. Students are being trained in MS Office applications, advanced spreadsheet tools, and Python programming, with a clear focus on data-driven decision-making, analytical thinking, and real-world problem-solving. The curriculum goes beyond basic literacy, embedding technology within applied contexts such as financial analysis and operational insights.
The ongoing academic engagement emphasizes competency-based assessments, continuous feedback mechanisms, and structured monitoring of digital infrastructure utilization, ensuring accountability and quality in programme delivery. The evaluation process is rooted in data-driven insights, enabling continuous refinement of pedagogy and alignment with defined academic outcomes.
This initiative reflects IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s commitment to developing a scalable and replicable model for digital empowerment among tribal communities. By combining academic rigor with interdisciplinary learning and sustained assessment, the institute is contributing to the creation of digitally proficient, future-ready tribal youth equipped to excel in higher education, competitive environments, and a rapidly evolving technology-driven economy.
