In a moment of resplendent triumph that underscores IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s global academic stature and its students’ intellectual prowess, Team Energy Equation from the institute has emerged as the Global Winner of the prestigious Switch Energy Alliance (SEA) Case Competition 2025 — a worldwide platform that challenges young minds to devise sustainable energy solutions for the future.

The competition, organised by the Switch Energy Alliance, a renowned global non-profit dedicated to advancing energy literacy and awareness, aims to ignite critical thinking among youth by engaging them in analysing real-world energy dilemmas, designing sustainable pathways, and charting a pragmatic ten-year roadmap to eradicate energy poverty.

This year witnessed spirited participation from 295 teams across 27 countries, representing premier institutions and thought leaders in energy innovation. Out of these, only 20 teams advanced to the semi-finals, and a select five teams reached the grand global finals. After a riveting live presentation and an incisive Q&A session before an international jury of distinguished energy experts, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad’s Team Energy Equation captured the world’s attention and claimed the coveted first position, securing a prize of $10,000.

The winning team — Sarvesh Bhatia and Anant Sagar (B.Tech Final Year, Petroleum Engineering), Shruti Priya (B.Tech Final Year, Mineral and Metallurgical Engineering), and Sejal Kumari (B.Tech Final Year, Civil Engineering) — demonstrated remarkable interdisciplinary insight and strategic thinking. Their innovative roadmap for sustainable energy transition was lauded for its clarity, scalability, and social relevance.
