As part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Sewa (SHS) Campaign 5.0, being observed across the country from September 15 to October 2, 2025, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad organized a felicitation program at Penman Hall to honor the tireless contributions of its Safai Mitra, Swachhata Coordinators, volunteers, and members of various campus clubs in keeping the campus clean, green, and beautiful.
The event was graced by Shri Ravi Raj Sharma, Municipal Commissioner, Dhanbad, as Guest of Honour, along with Prof. Sukumar Mishra, Director, IIT (ISM), and was also attended by Shri Prabodh Pandey, Registrar, IIT (ISM); Prof. S. A. Sahu, Head, Centre of Societal Mission (CSM); and Prof. Deepika Sharma, Nodal Officer, SHS Campaign 5.0.
Prof. Deepika Sharma, in her welcome address, detailed the various activities carried out under the SHS campaign, while Prof. S. A. Sahu highlighted the broad spectrum of initiatives undertaken by the CSM in alignment with the cleanliness campaign.
Registrar Shri Prabodh Pandey lauded the efforts of the Safai Mitra, Swachhata Coordinators, volunteers, and members of Deepti Ladies Club, Sampurna Ladies Club, Scolomin Club, Staff Recreation Club, and the Shop Inspection Team, whose consistent dedication ensures cleanliness and hygiene within the institute premises throughout the year.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sukumar Mishra emphasized that cleanliness reflects collective responsibility towards sustainability and social well-being, and IIT (ISM) takes pride in leading initiatives that align with national missions and instill civic sense among all stakeholders.
Guest of Honour Shri Ravi Raj Sharma appreciated the institute’s proactive role in promoting cleanliness and remarked that collaboration between civic authorities and academic institutions is crucial to building a cleaner and healthier society, and that the efforts of Safai Mitra and volunteers set an example for the wider community.
The felicitation program not only recognized the dedicated efforts of various individuals and groups but also reaffirmed IIT (ISM)’s strong commitment to promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and community engagement, in line with the national objectives of the Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign.
